The Producers Livestock Marketing Association to host the qualifying event for the West of the World Cattle Auction Championship

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (September 17, 2021) – The first of three regional qualifying events for the World Cattle Auction Championship (WLAC) will be hosted by the Producers Livestock Marketing Association in Salina, Utah on September 28, 2021.

The opening ceremonies will begin at 9:30 a.m. (GMT), with the awards ceremony after the competition. A total of 26 competitors will compete for a top 10 spot, granting them a berth in the semifinals for WLAC 2022 at Shipshewana Auction, Inc. in Shipshewana, Indiana.

Each qualifying event is a live auction where each participant auctions 8 livestock projects (traditionally livestock) to real bidders. Competitors are judged on the clarity of their bidding song; professionalism; and their ability to lead the sale while catching offers.

The public can attend the cattle auction and competition free of charge. It will also be streamed live on the Livestock Marketing Association Facebook page.

The remaining qualifying events are regionally balanced among LMA members. The Midwest qualifying event will be held at Cherokee Sales Co. in Cherokee, Oklahoma on November 10. The Eastern qualifying event will be held at the Tri-State Livestock Market in Abingdon, Va. On January 7.
